Welcome

This is a collection of written pieces that comes from things I’ve thought and experienced; occasionally they are illustrated with photos that I’ve taken. They are here because I want people to enjoy them. This is a sort of print performance and as with other kinds of performance it is a meaningless exercise without an audience. So be my audience ...

THE ANSWER IS STILL IN THE BALANCE

My memoirs. The title comes from a newspaper cutting I found amongst my Father's possessions after his death. It reported that Mr G.E.Diggle, fishing in the Avon at Bath, landed a fine roach weighing one ounce short of 3lbs and that he had entered the catch in a competition. It went on to add that someone else somewhere else had won the prize with a fish 2 ounces heavier. 'BIG ROACH CAUGHT AT BATH' was the heading and beneath it the words 'But Not Heavy Enough to Win a Prize'. That's the title for my book I thought wryly.
The cover photo is a self-portrait taken when I was 22 and proves that once, for one fiftieth of a second, I was a handsome dog.
