Welcome

This is a collection of written pieces that comes from things I’ve thought and experienced; occasionally they are illustrated with photos that I’ve taken. They are here because I want people to enjoy them. This is a sort of print performance and as with other kinds of performance it is a meaningless exercise without an audience. So be my audience ...

LONDON STREET SCENES (Not for the squeamish)

Are you aware of how passionate we British are about Art? Yes, they may flock in their thousands to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris (see my earlier blog about this) but in London people are so desperate for Art that special ‘artbulances’ are sent out to provide their art fix. The rear doors of the vehicles open to reveal a screen upon which art videos (such as Simon Schama on Viareggio) are shown. My photograph reveals one poor soul too weak even to walk, struggling towards one such cultural oasis. Note the registration number of the van.

Limp-wristed? Oh no. These butch fellows show the world that they certainly know about erections and how to create them!

Returning to the subject of art. Have you ever seen a Nila van? They deliver foodstuffs around London as well as heart attacks and strokes to feminists and the politically correct of all genders. No-one knows why their vans are so decorated nor why they are not defaced by the prim and proper. Here are two fine examples.

Unfortunately the open door conceals the start of the caption but it's probably CRAC judging by the cheese that the young lady appears to be leaning upon.

I didn’t know that there was furniture whose purpose was so explicitly defined but there you are – it’s all part of the London street scene.

That's all Folks!
