Welcome

This is a collection of written pieces that comes from things I’ve thought and experienced; occasionally they are illustrated with photos that I’ve taken. They are here because I want people to enjoy them. This is a sort of print performance and as with other kinds of performance it is a meaningless exercise without an audience. So be my audience ...

A BRIMSTONE COMES TO VISIT

This butterfly came to visit my garden a few days ago. In flight I couldn't tell it from a Cabbage White (but then my eyesight is not so good). When it landed on a branch of an apple tree I could not identify it (but then I'm not an expert in ... lepidoptery ... I think that's what it's called). I just stared at it,  marvelling at its clever camouflage. Google tells me it's a male Brimstone. I don't think I've ever seen one before. Share it with me!
